Shades of grey, the message.

It’s the must read book of the year!
Did you buy the books or hide the cover on your kindle?
Well it was an e book first!

If you’ve not read the book and are going to or perhaps in the middle of the trilogy then as they say on TV – look away now.

I bought the first 50 Shades of Grey book early 2012 and with my illness it’s been something of a long read to get through all 3 books. The best time was when I was on a sunshine holiday. No stress, no have to do’s and lots of sunshine so that my eyes could focus.
Back home it’s a lot more difficult to read when your eyes won’t co-operate, your concentration is shot, the colour of the pages hurt your eyes and after 2 pages you want to sleep! It certainly took the thrill out of reading the saucy bits when I had to put the book down for a day in the middle of a scene!

So I persevered and now at the end of August I can finally say I’ve read 50 shades darker and freed too. Yes there are all the explicit scenes which involve discipline, bondage, submission, dominance, and sadism- masochism there are also times of counselling, helping and the realisation that unconditional love is a gift. I found a really strong message. Honest.

That message is, so if you don’t want to know the ending do look away now…..

Is that no matter what cards have been dealt to you in the past, it is you who has bought you into this present and now (be amazed and proud of yourself so far). If something now comes along that means more to you than the past and the baggage you had, then you can choose to leave the past behind. It no longer has to hold you back, you can and will create a new life, that suits you now.

Take the opportunity to take the future into your own hands, step over those barriers and live the life you deserve.

What in your life now, is worth leaving that baggage behind
and stepping into a new life for?

Could it be

  • a new relationship
  • a realisation of what you have to lose if you stay in this old way
  • a child
  • a grandchild
  • recovering from a trauma, accident or bereavement
  • you’ve just stopped and smelled the roses and realised you’ve been having a life not living your life
  • you’ve lost you job or retired and now have the chance for a completely new look at life
The list could be a long one, a short one but it will be a personal one.

Be ready to move on
