Nutella – a dog

Here is a little story about a group of people who never give up and I feel that it is a lesson we all need to learn when recovering our lives.

As many of you know I have an involvement with rescue dog work in Spain. If you want to see more about the dogs in our care and learn about all the hard work the volunteers do then visit Facebook Page Benidorm Dog Homing.
There was one particular young dog in there called Nutella, we never knew her past, as is the same with most of the dogs in their care. She was lively and possibly too boisterous for family life in an apartment plus she grew into a big strong dog.
Nutella came in to the pound and was put with other dogs in a pen. She quickly became pack leader. Her love of cuddles is what kept the volunteers pushing for her to be homes and of course she is a really pretty dog.
Nutellas chance came and she was re-homed. I had the pleasure of dog sitting her in her new home. Her love in life was a good walk, a play with dog friends and a soft sofa to sleep on. She was a handful and had a love of escaping from the well secured garden. We rebuilt the perimeter fence each day after yet another escape, she had a love for freedom.
When her owner returned it all got a bit too much. Nutella was running away on a daily basis and the Spanish hunting season had started and her home was on a mountainside which the hunters loved and where it means any animal is fair game to be shot then  Nutella’s life was at serious risk. No amount of rebuilding the fence was keeping her in. With a sad heart, the poor girl was returned to the pound and again left in a pen with a pack and started her return to pack leader.

Now like many people who have ongoing illnesses or problems, we can give up & Nutella could have done too. Or we can call on our network and find the help we need, seek out the answers, find our safe place.

Nutella was back in the pound and safe, but it was no life, so she started again with looks on her side, giving lovely greetings to the volunteers, having short walks and getting into peoples hearts.
In return the volunteers never gave up. They kept on working her Facebook posts, finding out from people like me what Nutella really did have to offer a family. Looking for that perfect match.

Nutella now has a new home and it’s all down to the hard work of an amazing group of people.

I’m too pretty to be in a dog pound, please home me!

Just a few of the amazing volunters who walk the dogs and there is a huge tribe behind the scenes on facebook.

Airport time and onwards to new hope.

Wow…I thought we were getting a small dog!

A hard wood floor is so much nicer than a concrete cell

Nutella never gave up, the people supporting Nutella never gave up, they just worked even harder to find the perfect home.
When we face problems or issues do we give up or do we find the strength to believe that we can begin again. Only you are in the driving seat of your life, make some good decisions and learn from the poor ones.
