Parks and Art of Altea

A beautiful evening, last night. At 9pm it was still 26 degrees and yet the Spanish were out strolling along the promenade in their jeans and long-sleeved shirts and tops.
I was in shorts and t-shirt! For me just being out in the open air is making a huge difference to my health. I’m out in the open feeling fresh air on my skin and away from all the things that affected me back in the UK.

I decided to concentrate my walk on the parks and art that make up Altea.

Even the main shopping street has now been covered in beautiful flowers.

The shops seem to have set themselves up in competition with one another to see who has the best display.

There was even one where the apartment above, seems to have joined in as their own display tumbled down towards street level.

It sure makes for a pretty sight as you go out shopping rather than just solid concrete complexes!

It was then that I noticed that the town’s gardeners had been out in force today.
The trees in the church square have all been cut into neat geometric shapes that lead your eye towards the lights and the neatly planted and colorful flower borders.

The seafront art at sunset time, shows new dimensions that I have not noticed in the strong sunlight.

I can’t see how the town can have been spruced up so much in just one day.

This pigeon has spotted the coolest place in town to be!
The town’s old drinking water system is still in place and it is not just the birds that use it.

Art and gardens 8AThere is just so much in the way of Art and Parks here and the light for the artists is just amazing that you can’t help but feel drawn to taking pictures as the memories will never be as vibrant as the moment captured.

With all this tidying up that has been going on I’m beginning to wonder something.
I feel as though I have  been walking around here with my eyes closed for a day or two?
Have I really begun to be immune to the beautiful sights that are around me?

It is too easy to let life happen around you, to be busy, to be occupied and to miss something beautiful happening. It may be meeting someone who could help you in your business. Taking a moment to look at a flower and then be stunned by the beautiful butterfly that glides into view. Life is happening all around us and we get to insular to stop and appreciate what is right with us, Now.
