Shopping in Spain, with abundance in mind.

Started to write a post yesterday and soon realised I was not in the right frame of mind so decided to take a lesson from the Spanish people and realised that tomorrow would be a better day and they are right!

I’ve been spending time trying to make the apartment look a bit more like home and getting things in that I feel I need, such as pint pot glasses for when you need a longer more cooling drink.

So out round the shops I went. Its amazing over here, there are so many shops that have chinese imports that you can buy anything you want in them at rock bottom prices. I mean they really are cheap and then there is the local Domti store. It seemed to be a hidden secret amongst the British ex-pats. It’s a store that sells Spanish goods at low prices too. That way you feel you are supporting Spain’s economy whilst getting a good deal.
I’ve bought air fresheners, plates, loads of UK to European plug adaptors and I’ve even bought Spanish plugs and after a lesson from my man, I can change a plug here too!

The thing with all of this was I began thinking not about easy consumerism which is as prevalent here as it is in the UK but about abundance!
Whats the connection you may ask? Well if I am buying all my stuff from cheap shops what am I telling the universe? We have over 80,000 thoughts a day and about 80% of those are negative. So if I am constantly buying cheap stuff from cheap shops am I telling the universe that money is tight, that I have not got enough money, that I have a belief that I don’t deserve to have money. Or is there actually more to believing in abundance than your physical actions. I’ve decided that there is much more and that even though I am being wise with my money, I mean who wants to spend hundreds of pounds buying a chair that will have no value to you in a year when one for less than 20 Euro does a wonderful job for you.  It makes the room look more modern, lighter and does a great job of keeping the clothes off the floor at the end of the day.

I have decided that there is more than one way to look at this situation, as I suppose there is with the whole of life

I could just focus on money being tight and live my life in fear of not having enough money. Now by doing that I get to live a life of misery. I am focusing on the negative and listening to those 80% of thoughts that go through your head each day. They are so persuasive and easy to listen to……

Or

I could choose to look at life and money and my choice of the shops I go to as an opportunity, an adventure, a chance to put simple ideas to the test. I will accept that the universe has given me this opportunity to play with my money and ideas that I can have success in this adventure and its on my terms and the universe is helping me.

I’m going to stop every time a negative thought happens and accept that I am living life my own way and enjoy the abundance that brings to me.

That’s a great way of looking at life. I think it’s the way you feel about buying cheap goods that counts. More money left to spend on important things!

      Hi Steve,

      thanks for the comment.
I agree its great to have more money to spend on important things. Its also taught me that even if something appeared negative there is a way to work with your mind and remind yourself of all the positives we have in life to.
      Stay positive
      Cheers
