Bad back, what’s behind it? Find your cure.

For the last day or so I’ve noticed that my lower back was playing up. So the normal thought pattern is

  • what have I done differently?
  • was it the yoga class?
  • did I lift my child or bag of shopping badly?
  • did I run in the wrong shoes?
  • or was it just reaching for the sauce bottle?

It may be one of those and you may have pulled a muscle but for a moment lets consider some alternatives. I was reminded about these in yoga class when a few people mentioned they had bad backs and they were asked, instead of what did you do, the great question of

‘What’s going on in your life?’

It reminded me of my osteopath from years ago a guy called Sylvain Gateaud. Whenever I walked, or maybe struggled into his surgery that great question was always asked.
‘What’s going on in your life?’

I suppose looking around at people as they were in a coffee shop today I saw them holding their heads, wringing their hands, touching their knees. Not because they were talking about those areas, but because that is where they were holding their anguish over something.

So I decided to do a bit of research into back pain and this picture says a lot to me.
Each area of your spine supports a different area of your body and don’t forget it also carries your weight all day too!

Your spine and its relationship to the rest of your body Each area of the spine is linked to certain areas of the body. So you can see the top bit is about the head down to the hands.

The different areas start at the top with your head down to your hands.
Then the chest to the abdominal muscles.
On down to the legs.
Finally the bowel, bladder and sexual functions.

Apparently at the fifth lumbar spine (L5) we need to be aware that this point takes 100% of your upper body weight.
75% of that weight is taken by the water that is stored in the disc core – a fantastic reason to make sure you drink plenty of water!
With 25% of your upper body weight actually supported by the fibrous material around the disc.

Moving on I found it interesting to think about yoga and how twists, wring out your internal organs, it ties in!
Think about your back ache and work out where it is…….

Top, middle or bottom and then think what area in your life you are having an issue with.
It’s recognised that
Top = Head over heart. Do you lack emotional support, maybe you are feeling unloved or taken for granted. Could you be holding back on love?
Middle = Chest, back and legs. Are you stuck in the past, feeling guilty over something. Not sure you can take the next step. Do you want people to ‘get off your back?
Bottom = Internal organs. Feeling sick in the stomach, upset tum, churning tum. Can’t take much more of this worry. Lack of money, where is the next lot coming from to pay for…….Are you scared of money and maybe the problems that success and money will bring you?

For me it’s about money. I will create a business that supports me and benefits others and whilst that is happening I have to thank and trust in the universe for the abundance
I have.
My question to you today is
‘What’s going on in your life – And holding you back?’.

Don’t forget, this is only my opinion and you may need specialist help.
